My Story
Julia Martin has over 25 years of coaching and teaching acting at schools such as Columbia University, Barnard College, St. John’s University, and the New York Film Academy. She has taught master classes in acting and acting for camera at the Taiwan Performing Arts Center in Taipei, the Seoul Institute of the Arts in South Korea, and Roma Tre University in Italy. Julia currently teaches at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, AMDA.

Her mentors and teachers include Olympia Dukakis (Academy Award winner, 1 Golden Globes, 3 Emmy nominations), Jacques Lecoq (founder, École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq), Andrei Serban (Obie-award winner), Chris Bayes (Head of Physical Acting at Yale), Philippe Gaulier (founder of École Philippe Gaulier), Anne Bogart (creator of Viewpoints), and Ron Van Lieu (former head of acting of MFA programs at NYU, Yale, and Columbia) among others.

A graduate of the MFA Acting program at Columbia University and Brown University, Julia Martin became a resident artist of the La MaMa’s Great Jones Repertory, touring Europe and Asia over 10 years. She has also collaborated with Untitled Theater Company #61, performed in regional theater, starred in a SNL skit opposite Mike Myers, and has been featured in several national commercials.

Recently, she worked as an editor and collaborator for the acting book Acting Action: A Primer for Actors by Hugh O’Gorman.
